Old Computers Become Hazardous Waste

(12-28-01) Each year, Americans discard thousands of tons of electronic equipment. But computers and television sets contain heavy metals--including lead--that can potentially contaminate groundwater if they're put in landfills. In Nebraska, there are few other options for disposal--a problem that has come to the attention of the state legislature. Carolyn Johnsen reports.
